Washington, Mar 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) When safety lines become death traps, it does become a serious issue to consider. That is exactly what the US government is thinking of as it prepares to issue a ban on the use of baby slings. Baby slings are quite popular and are used by many a mother all around the world to carry their babies comfortably by clinging them the baby slings near to their chest.
However, it’s being said that the “C”-like shape of the sling which is believed to fit in the baby safely and smoothly is actually a danger zone for the infant as because the “C” shape creates a trap for the baby which suffocates the infant restricting its capability to breathe in its chintochest position. Reportedly, this very method of carrying babies has led to the death of quite a few infants owing to which Inez Tenenbaum, head of the Consumer Product Safety Commission had declared on Tuesday that her agency plans to issue a warning against the usage of baby slings, thus creating a general awareness to all parents.
Consumer Reports way back in 2008 had raised certain issues about the profound usage of baby slings where they pointed out how the soft fabric rings are an injury prone thing, if the infant slips out of it by any off chance. Tiffany Speck, who happens to be a nurse training people to wear slings in the right manner has also pointed out how the baby gets into the chin-to-chest position while curling from head towards toe and finally ends up in putting itself in a position which causes suffocation.
