Google Celebrates Robert Louis Stevenson’s Birthday

Robert Louis doodleNov 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Now if you are wondering what is the new pirate themed doodle all about on Google’s home page then to be precise it is nothing else but a commemoration of the famous writer Robert Louis Stevenson’s 160th birthday. The doodle seen on Google features a pirate, a pirate ship, a chest of gold, along with the ominous skull and crossbones flags commonly seen on the pirate ships.

Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish author who is world wide famous for his novels like ‘Kidnapped,’ ‘Treasure island,’ ‘The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.’ During his career span of 20 years he also indulged in writing poetry, travelogues, short stories, essays, romances, plays and biographies. Over the years, his writings became popular with readers of every age especially children who get lost in the adventures of treasure hunt of Jim Hawkin. His writings are very much alive today and is read over world wide. ‘The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,’ a much celebrated novel of the author which shows the brilliant dual interplay of the human psyche was later adapted for a movie in 1941 starring Spencer Tracy, Ingrid Bergman, Lana Turner and became a hit, earning three Academy award nominations.

However, according to sources, the coveted chest of gold featured in the Google page was misinterpreted by many. Some people had the wrong impression that the gold coins over flowing from the box was in a way suggesting the huge increase in the salary of the Google employees. No matter whatever tones it suggested to people, it is undoubtedly a great act on the part of Google to pay tribute to this great author.
