New York, Oct 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is urging all gays and supporters of gay and lesbianism to join in an exclusive campaign to end what they call “gay bullying”.
The organization rallies to support gay and lesbians and ensure that their rights are not infringed on. They are also actively involved in lobbying for the legalization of same sex marriages in several states in the United States.
The organization in conjunction with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people (LGBT) asked supporters to wear purple on Wednesday. They are calling the day “Spirit Day”.
The organizations announced other ways that supporters can lend their support in fighting anti-gay assaults in the United States. GLAAD is urging all supporters to mask their various profile pictures on social networking sites and other forums purple to widen the impact of the campaign.
GLAAD is offering webmasters and bloggers to also join in the fight. The organization has made a graphic available for download to be posted on websites.
The day is credited to a teenager, Brittany McMillan. The day has been dedicated to the teenagers who had committed suicide because of gay bullying.
