Geoffrey Canada Will Receive Honorary Doctorate On December 13

Dec. 07, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Afro-American educator and social worker, who for several years has been trying to raise the rate of college and high school graduation will be honored in ‘Fall Commencement’ on December 13, 2009. It has been reported by the sources that an honorary doctorate will be awarded to the social activist for the works he has done so far.
Geoffrey Canada, who has started his works to spread education at Harlem in New York presently is the CEO of his ‘Harlem Children’s Zone’. Harlem region is known for its Afro American population and Geoffrey Canada’s ‘Harlem Children’s Zone’ has been made with the vision of offering education to the children from some poverty stricken families of this region. Geoffrey Canada, who is motivated to improve the standard of living in this place has promised the parents about the education of children who will come to his Children’s Zone. In one of his speeches, he said that every child who will be admitted to his school would get the necessary assistance for completing high school and college successfully.
It is a great challenge to inspire numerous students to graduate but George Canada is determined to fulfill his promise. He has helped several children in receiving education and improve their lifestyle. His great works have come to the notice of several people including President Barack Obama, who has asked to follow the model of Children’s Zone in other states of the country. George Canada’s noble works have been highlighted in different print media as well as in popular television shows like ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ and ‘60 Minutes’.
