‘Gears of War 3′ becomes the most successful game of 2011

In the first week of the release of the X-Box exclusive game, Microsoft and Epic Games have announced that they have sold more than 3 million copies worldwide. The finale of the trilogy has thus become the most successful game up to date in 2011.
The performance of Gears of War 3 has helped push the total sales of the franchise. The game’s franchise has crossed the $1 billion mark in revenue generation and it has become the most successful franchise on X-Box as well as the first to cross the billion mark.
Ahead of the release of the movie, Gears of War 3 was one of the most anticipated games of the year. It is a third-person shooter game and the story was written by Karen Traviss who is a renowned science fiction writer. With the current story ended, Traviss is reportedly working on a new story for the game.
Gears of War 3 was expected to be released last April but technical problems delayed the planned release of the game. The game was eventually released to the public on the 20th of September. Ahead of the release, one million people had already pre-ordered the game.
