Gang Suspects In NYC Detained For Anti-Gay Violence

New York City, Oct 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Eight gang suspects were arrested yesterday on the allegation of torturing and beating up two teenagers and a man. The gang members, arraigned on Sunday, for their brutal anti gay attacks are, Elmer Confresi, 23; David Rivera, 21; Ildefonzo Mendez, 23; David Rivera, 21; Steven Caraballo, Denis Peitars, Nelson Falu and Bryan Almonte, all 17; and Brian Cepeda, 16.
The members were part of the Latin King Goonies gang and they reportedly recruited the two victim teenagers a few days ago. When they came to know that one of the boys was gay, they stripped, tortured and beat the teen before sodomizing him with a plunger handle, until he confessed that he is a gay and had sex with a man. Similarly, they tracked another teenager, whom they also suspected to be a gay. After they came to know about who the second teen was, they called him up in their house, by alluring him of a party. When he arrived, they gave him a similar treatment for hours, and sodomizing the victim with a baseball bat.
Eight of the suspects have been arrested, the ninth one namely Ruddy Vargas-Perez, 22 year old, remains at large. Denis Peitars and Steven Caraballo, have been released on bail by the Bronx Criminal Court Judge, Harold Adler, in lieu of $100,000 bond or $50,000 cash. The other six have been detained. Fred Bittlingmeyer, Denis Peitar’s attorney said that his client is less at fault than the others because he had only punched the victim. Paul Horowitz, the representative of Steven Caraballo, said that his client has never been involved in any other legal issues before and had just hit the victim with his fist. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that the criminals will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for their hate crime.
