New York, April 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An analysis on a data released by the FBI has revealed that most bank robberies in the United States happen on Fridays. It is not clear why robbers favor Fridays to rob banks.

According to the FBI data, Southern states seemed to be the most targeted. About 1,790 bank robberies were reported in Southern states. Western states reported 1,691 robberies. Last year’s figures showed that thieves made away with more than $43 million in the 5,546 bank robberies that took place throughout the United States.

The FBI failed to divulge on the trend but other trends that seemed to stand out was the fact that robbers seemed to favor mid-morning to strike. California reported 805 robberies to become the state with the highest number of bank robberies. North Dakota had the least number of robberies with only two robberies reported.

The FBI’s report indicates that there was a decline in the number of bank robberies in the country in 2010. In 2009, the FBI recorded 6,065 bank robberies in the United States. The report said most of the robbers demanded cash from the counter with $8 million of the stolen cash later retrieved.
