Dec 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Extreme bad weather conditions in North Georgia and Atlanta have caused several schools to remain closed. School authorities have declared that they will not keep the schools open as they do not want any problem on the part of both the students as well as the staff while they come to attend the school. The roads in Georgia have been steeped under snow and the school authorities consider that the icy roads are quite likely to pose threat to the travelers. On Wednesday many schools remained closed in the region.
The area has been thrown open to extremely freezing temperatures and constant blizzards and snow fall have made it quite difficult for the people of that area to travel through the icy roads. Considering the hazardous roads due to impeccable weather conditions, probable road mishaps are on the rise. However, the safety that has been ensured on the part of the school authorities has led to the rising of some questions in the mind of the guardians. Many of them wonder as to who takes the decision for keeping the schools closed on such occasions. For those of you who are not yet aware of this must know that the Georgia Department of Education has some basic guidelines regarding the matter of school closings which have to be followed by the schools of this region.
As per reports before issuing out any kind of decision on school closings, the authorities consult with the local and state law enforcement agencies about the road conditions. The schools also discuss it with other near by schools as to how much the bus routes are safe or not. Any hazardous information coming up is taken note of and accordingly decision is made.
