Freedom Tower: The Symbol Of Hope Finally Gathers Momentum
September 11th, 2009 - 9:58 pm ICT by GD
There have been a lot of progress in the building of the Freedom Tower or the One World Trade Center, that is currently under construction at the same site as that of the World Trade Center, on the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The Freedom Tower which is currently under construction has already been raised up to significant levels. The building is supposed to be 1776 ft in height and the structure that is now been completed is supported by strong beams of steel. Also, 100 miles of the pavement named September 11 Memorial that has to be constructed is under progress and concrete has already been poured in that area.
One of the major accomplishments in the area has been the construction of the twin waterfalls, fountains and reflecting pools. These features surrounding the area of the Memorial beautifies the site while the Freedom tower is being completed. The area is now prepared such that the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks can visit the site for the first time on Friday. PA Executive Director, Chris Ward, says, “All else pales in comparison.” He also added, “A year ago, people were still calling the site a pit. Well, it’s not a pit anymore.”
The Memorial pathway, connecting Fulton Street subways to the World Financial Center, is supposed to be over headed by fifty five beautiful arches and about forty seven of those arches have already been constructed by the PA.
Apart from these structures no other buildings are constructed and this is due to the fact that there have been financial hassles for the past eight years between the PA and the developer, Larry Silverstein.
