Nov 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Cooks Source monthly magazine is a free publication which relies on it’s local advertising in order to profit. The Sunderland-based cooking magazine has recently found itself in the center of an Internet investigation of plagiarism when it was discovered by a food writer that her work had been edited and used, citing her as the author, without her permission.

Monica Gaudio wrote an article back in 2005, which was then used by Cooks Source, and attributed to Gaudio. She wrote in her blog about the response which she obtained when she contacted the editor, Judith Griggs, about the situation. Not only did she e-mail back and refuse to admit she was wrong, she also stated, “the web is considered ‘public domain’ and you should be happy we just didn’t “lift” your whole article and put someone else’s name on it!”

Griggs was not available for comment, and did not confirm that the e-mail was indeed from her. The contents of the e-mail is posted on the blog of Gaudio, given above. She is calling for Cooks Source o issue her a public apology and donate a payment for the use of her work.
