PARIS (BNO NEWS) — The French Ministry of Justice on Tuesday issued an abduction alert for a missing 1-year-old boy. The system is an equivalent to the American Amber Alert system.

Ibrahima Nacir DOUCOURE, 18 months old, was abducted from his home in the Paris suburb of Fontenay-sous-Bois between 8 am and 8.30 a.m. local time, authorities said. He is described as mixed-African and wearing blue pajamas. He has dark hair.

The suspect is believed to be Mahamadou DOUCOURE, 28. He is a black male with no to little black hair.

Anyone who may have information on the abduction is asked to call the police at 0805 201 000, or e-mail PPPJ-ENLEVEMENT@interieur.gouv.fr.

It is the ninth time the system, which was launched in 2006, has been activated. The last time was on March 20, 2009 when a 3-year-old girl was abducted. The girl was found safe in April.

Tuesday’s alert was aired nationwide on radio and television channels.
