KABUL (BNO NEWS) — Four service members from the NATO-led ISAF alliance were killed on Thursday when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in western Afghanistan, officials say.

No details on the attack were immediately released but the U.S. military confirmed the service members were from the United States.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these four brave service members we lost to vicious and indiscriminate IEDs,” said Brigadier-General Eric Tremblay, who is a spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). “Despite these difficult losses, we remain resolute in meeting the commitment that we have towards the Afghan population. We will need both courage and patience to see it through.”
