Four dead in Ohio crash involving school van
January 8th, 2010 - 3:11 am ICT by BNO NewsSPRINGFIELD, OHIO (BNO NEWS) — At least four people were confirmed dead after a three-vehicle crash involving a school van near Springfield, Ohio on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The crash occurred just before 1 p.m. local time at milepost 62 on eastbound Interstate 70, according to a spokesman for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to initial reports from the scene, a semi tanker vehicle traveling westbound struck two eastbound vehicles, one of them a school van carrying eleven people. “Four people [on the van] are confirmed deceased,” the spokesman said. The driver of the school van was among the fatalities.
