Fort Hood, Jun 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A military judge, Col. James Pohl has granted a four-month delay in the Fort Hood massacre trial. The Texas Fort Hood military base is the most populous US military base in the world. It may be recalled that the defendant, Maj. Nidal Hasan is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 32 others. The incident took place in November 5, 2009 at the Fort Hood deployment center. Hassan was later shot and he is paralyzed from the waist down. The attack was the worst attack at the Texas Fort Hood military base.

The defense attorney told the presiding judge, that they do not have all the documents, to enable them prepare for his defense. Hence the judge was forced to grant four months time to prepare for the defense attorney.

It may be recalled that Hassan was a military psychiatrist at the Fort Hood. After the shooting on November 5, it was reported that Hassan has been shot dead but that report turned out to be false.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known, but later those close to Hassan said the psychiatrist was later showing signs of extremism in his speech. It was also learnt that he was under intense pressure, which led to his breakdown and the shooting incident.
