Former Senator Ted Stevens Dies In Fatal Alaska Plane Crash

tedAug 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This time luck was not by the side of Ted Stevens who became one of the five victims to lose their lives in the fatal Alaska plane crash. The news of the death of the former senator was confirmed by both the investigators and the family spokesperson who said to a media source that “It’s just a reality of Alaska life and unfortunately it caught up with him”. The death of the 86-year-old senator has left his family shattered.

Although his wife had feared on Monday after hearing the plane crash that Ted Stevens was one of the passengers on board, it was only on Tuesday that the news of the death of the former Senator was confirmed by the federal rescue team. Ted Steven who was one of the longest serving Republican Senator was on a fishing trip in Alaska. Along with him there were many other dignitaries. The others who have lost their life in the fatal plane crash are pilot of the float plane Theron “Terry” Smith, William “Bill” Phillips Sr, 48-year-old Dana Tindall, and 16-year-old Corey Tindall. William “Bill” Phillips was a Washington lobbyist and a former chief of staff of Ted Stevens. The four survivors that include former NASA head Sean O’Keefe have been shifted to hospital for proper medical treatment.

Plane crashes in Alaska are common occurrences due to its rough weather. Ted Stevens escaped death narrowly in a 1978 plane crash at Anchorage that had claimed the life of his wife Ann along with several others.
