Former Massachusetts police officer sentenced for making false statements
April 9th, 2010 - 4:12 am ICT by BNO NewsBOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS (BNO NEWS) – A Former Massachusetts police officer was sentenced for making false statements, prosecutors said Thursday.
Arlindo Romeiro, 37, of Stoughton, Massachusetts, who resigned from the Stoughton Police Department, made false statements and representations to the FBI regarding an ongoing public corruption investigation, which he made during the course of an interview on July 13, 2009.
The interview was part of an investigation regarding officers fencing stolen plasma TVs and other items.
Romeiro pleaded guilty and was sentenced Thursday to 3 years’ probation and fined $3,000.
