Reykjavik, Jun 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former chess champion Bobby Fisher’s remains are going to be exhumed. He had died 2 years ago in Iceland, at the age of 64 years, after an illness. He was buried in a cemetery in Reykjavik. The remains of the chess champion would be exhumed on the orders of the Supreme Court of Iceland. The reason of the exhumation is that a paternity case needs to be solved.

The court ordered that tissue samples needed to be taken from the remains of the chess champion, so that Jinky Young could know for sure who her father is. She is the daughter of Bobby Fisher’s former lover, but there is a cloud over the identity of her father, hence the paternity test. A lower court had said that the remains would not be exhumed, but the Supreme Court over-ruled and allowed the remains to be dug up.

“In order to obtain such a sample it is unavoidable to exhume his body,” according to the court document. The estate is Bobby Fisher is worth around $2 million, so there has been an ongoing tussle between his former wife, his lover’s daughter, his nephews and even the US tax authorities.
