kaleLittle Rock, Arkansas, Sep 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) An insurance investigator who was in the process of probing the cause of a fire that broke out in a northeast Arkansas home on July 25 has reached a rather bizarre conclusion. Refuting the usual speculations that the fire could have been caused due to an electrical short circuit, the investigator has revealed in a report summary that the fire erupted by dead plants.

The owner of the house, that is located few miles away in the southern direction of Paragould, Little Rock, received a letter from the State Farm Insurance Co. recently which cited the dead plants as the culprit which was responsible for sparking the fire. The letter read that the fire was triggered by the decomposition of the organic material that was present within a plastic flowerpot that resulted in self heating, a reason that has left even the homeowner Brian Duncan rather surprised. While talking to the media, Brian Duncan divulged that the flowerpot indeed contained a host of dead, rotting flowers and potting soil that was planted last year by his wife.

Although the fire that erupted in Brian Duncan’s house earlier in the month of July did not cause any kind of injury to any of his family members, it was successful in damaging parts of his 2,200-square-foot home before it was put out by the owner’s father-in-law with the help of a garden hose. In the meanwhile, Brian Duncan has revealed that since the incident he has undertaken a mission to raise awareness about the potential fire risk that dead plants pose.
