Florida’s Department of Elder Affairs receives grant to help seniors find jobs
February 6th, 2010 - 12:34 am ICT by BNO NewsTALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) – The Florida Department of Elder Affairs received a federal grant of more than $2.9 million to assist Florida elders looking to re-enter the workforce, Governor Charlie Crist announced Friday.
Employment and job training among Florida’s low-income older workers age 55 and older will be assessed with the additional grant funds.
The department’s Senior Community Service Employment Program helped more than 1,230 older Floridians last year, improving their projections of employment and increasing their skill set.
“Every older worker offers a lifetime of experience and perspective that is an asset to any employer,” Governor Crist added.
