Jan 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) There are many instances of twins being born on New Year ’s Eve but it is not commonplace to see twins getting born in different decades despite a gap of a few minutes in their birth. This is exactly what happened to a woman in Florida. She gave birth to twins at Florida’s Tampa General Hospital. The first of the twins afterward named baby Marcello was born in 11:59:37 p.m. on December 31st 2009. His sibling named Stephano was born at 12:00:02 a.m. Both the babies were born prematurely and therefore they had to be shifted to neonatal intensive care unit. A doctor involved with University of South Florida named Catherine Lynch performed the delivery of the infants. It was a critical one but everything went off smoothly according to her.
The doctor said that the surgery became necessary as one of the twins could not get nutrition that was necessary to sustain from the placenta. It is being expected that both the babies would be kept at the NICU for nearly two months. It is quite amazing that they will have different birthdays though the gap in their age is just a few seconds. Juan Velasco the father of the babies was delighted to know the incident. However, he is relieved that the babies are doing well despite being born before time.
Margarita Velasco, the mother of the infants is also doing well. She is very happy that the babies are well and they created sort of a record. The hospital authorities also said the incident was a first of its kind.

I hate to break the news but we have not entered into a new decade yet. Until this year has passed we are still in the first decade of 2000.

The decade does not end until 12/31/10 at midnight! Why do people keep saying that 2010 is a new decade? There was never a year zero. Counting begins with number 1 not 0. This just makes me want to scream! The only thing these twins have different is the year they were born.
