Fleet Week In Progress In The City Of New York
May 31st, 2010 - 6:00 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkMay 31, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Fleet Week is being commemorated with massive pomp in the city of New York. This is a week that commenced on May 26 and will extend till June 2. This is a week that is devoted to all the patriotic and uniformed American sailors, who have the arduous task of shielding America from the evil influence of pirates and other elements inimical to America. Throughout this week, American sailors can be witnessed strolling on the lanes of the city.
Fleet Week is practiced only in New York and the sailors and their enormous ships travel to Manhattan. The entire Fleet Week consists of copious entertaining activities. On the momentous Memorial Day, that is, on May 31, a marvelous tribute will be executed to offer respect and esteem to these sailors.
This Fleet Week commenced with the spectacle of sailors and aircraft flyovers in the morning. Also, during the Fleet Week, there will be open homes on some ships, an assortment of military samples, visiting ships on tour, display of ships in the harbor, exciting contests, melodious renditions and many more. The New York City bars chime will present unique and tantalizing drinks referred to as ‘Fleet Week Drink Special’ for the sailors. Also, the sailors will be entertained by a free of charge screening of the ‘Top Gun’ that consists of the accomplished Tom Cruise. The screening will be on the flight deck of Intrepid.
The Fleet Week presents a fabulous opportunity for the ordinary Americans to interact and bond with the sailors. Socializing with the sailors will provide the common Americans an understanding of the tough, dangerous and uncompromising lives of the sailors.
