Fleet Week 2010 Kicks Off

Fleet Week 2010 The annual Fleet Week began with a spectacular show on Thursday which enabled fans to get a sneak peek into what to expect from the air show in the upcoming days. The anticipation regarding the annual event had been soaring among the fans this time as the show organizers have pitched Fleet Week 2010 as one of the biggest events to have ever been held. The high flying spectacle that dazzled the audiences on Thursday evening ensured that the expectations of the fans were fulfilled.

One of the highlights of Thursday’s event was the air show that was displayed by F/A-18 Hornet jets which filled the skyline with the trademark ‘diamond’ formation which was soon followed by two pilots who flew in nerve-wrecking speed as the audiences held their breaths. All the six flights then formed the triangle, mesmerizing the large number of enthusiastic onlookers who had gathered for the show. The magnificent show that was displayed on Thursday would ensure the rest of the days would also attract huge crowds. It was a spectacular sight!

According to show organizers, the annual event that continues till Monday would showcase around six U.S. Navy ships, two Canadian warships as well as a coast guard cutter in the days to come. While divulging details of the event earlier on, David Perry who is the spokesperson of Fleet Week told reporters that one of the much-anticipated vessels that would be showcased during the show is the environmentally friendly USS Makin Island, which is known to be the flagship hybrid ship of United States navy.
