Ottawa, Canada, July 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Canadian authorities have announced that at least five people have been injured after a stage collapsed on Sunday. The casualty numbers were brought down because authorities had warned ahead of time that a storm was heading the way where the concert was being held.

At the time that the evacuation was started, the band Cheap Trick was performing to the audience during the Ottawa Bluesfest. After the incident, the group told their fans via Facebook that they were all in good health.

The band announced on their page that, “Everyone is okay and we are so lucky to be alive and hope that all the fans are okay.”

Journalist Chris Cobb who happened to be at the concert told reporters afterwards that, “It was as if some invisible hand had pushed the entire structure over. It fell backwards almost intact and very quickly - like a house of cards.”

The authorities announced that at least one of the people was seriously injured after his abdomen was pierced by a flying piece from the stage. The incident caused the organizers to cancel the remainder of the concert. The concert is one of the most famous in Canada and it has been held annually since 1994.
