WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) – The White House announced Friday that First Lady Michelle Obama will visit Mexico City, Mexico, April 13-15, on her first solo official trip as First Lady.

Michelle Obama plans to gather with Mexican President Felipe Calderon and First Lady Margarita Zavala at their residence, Los Pinos, and engage with young citizens of Mexico in different events.

The First Lady will be meeting privately with Mrs. Zavala to continue to build on her recent conversation around areas of interest to both first ladies, and they will continue to make their way by touring the Museo Nacional de Antropologia (National Museum of Anthropology), which is internationally recognized as a centerpiece of Mexican culture.

Mrs. Obama will also visit with students and teachers at Escuela Siete de Enero, a public elementary school that serves local low-income students ages 6-12, and will then stopover the Universidad Iberoamericana, a multidisciplinary institution serving over 11,000 students including 800 graduate students, to address invited university and high school students from in and around Mexico City.

Additional plans include a reception at Los Pinos with women leaders, a dinner hosted by Mexican President Calderon and Mexican First Lady Zavala, an event at La Hacienda de los Morales, which will be hosted by Mrs. Obama, as a group of young leaders will gather and discuss leadership experiences, and an open press roundtable breakfast before her return to the U.S., where she will be attending a Let’s Move! event in San Diego, California.
