First Lady Michelle Obama participated in the ‘Let’s Move’ campaign against childhood obesity

Washington DC, July 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) United States First Lady, Michelle Obama is continuing her campaign against childhood obesity.

The First Lady participated in the ‘Let’s Move’ clinic at Camden Yard baseball stadium in Baltimore. The program, which is a collaboration between Major League Baseball (MLB) and the MLB Players Association in America and other United States government agencies including the White House, is a tool against childhood obesity in America.

During the program, the participants generally kept themselves active by running on the bases on the field. Among the participants were children and members of Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Other groups that are involved in the ‘Let’s Move’ program are the USDA, the Ad Council and the United States government.

Other programs that the group targets to use to combat childhood obesity are commercials that will feature top MLB players on television that will warn about the dangers associated with childhood obesity. It is being hoped that the campaign would reach more families and sensitize them on being fit.

Michelle Obama has waged a war against childhood obesity in the United States. America has one of the highest rates of childhood obesity in the world.
