First Ever Spanish National Siesta Championship held in Spain

Oct 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In an effort to revive the old tradition of the daily after-lunch nap, Madrid,Spain is undergoing the country’s first ever Spanish National Siesta Championship, and has set out to discover their best napper.

Competitors are watched closely as they lay down on bright blue sofas which are scattered about in the middle of a huge shopping mall in Madrid. They are dressed in pajamas or street clothes, and cover their heads with everything from eye masks to jackets.

Pulse monitors are attached to each contestant, and twenty thousand points are given to anyone who is able to sleep for the full twenty minutes. There are also points fro loudest snorer, most original sleep poses, and most noticeable sleepwear.

The contest was put together by the National Association of Friends of the Siesta, and started on October 14. The winner will be chosen this Saturday, and will be given a prize of one thousand Euros.
