Oct 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 53 feet high life size model of the dinosaur has been destroyed by fire. It is being suspected that arsonists are behind the fire attack. The attack took place at the Southsea Common in Portsmouth, Hampshire. The dinosaur was erected there as part of an exhibition by the artists Heather and Ivan Morison.

The structure was erected as part of the exhibition in the summer. However suspected arsonists set it ablaze in the wee hours of the morning. The fire department at Southsea was alerted to the blaze at 2:40 am. It took them the good part of an hour to put out the fire.

After the destruction of the statue, a lot of people expressed sadness at the event. It was said to be a particularly beloved structure with the children. Even families enjoyed having a gala time near it.

“I don’t know who did it, but the question has been asked of me that it survived the whole of the summer but within a week of the students returning to university it’s been burned down. We were wondering whether we could keep it permanently because it was such a popular thing but it looks like that won’t be possible now,” according to Gerald Vernon-Jackson, who is the leader of Portsmouth City Council.

The statue was about to be shifted to Colchester on the 10th of October from its current location.
