hillsAnaheim Hills, Nov. 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A brush fire broke out on Anaheim Hills on the 24th of November, 2009 that had burned away almost twenty acres within an hour. Sources reported that the fire had started around 10:00 and burned away about 20 acres in half an hour. By 11:30, the figure had risen to an eye grabbing 35 acres. The fire is reportedly causing road closures and people have had to be evacuated from the nearby dwellings although there is no news as of yet, of any possible damage done to them.

The fire had started along the 241 Toll Road that lies between Windy Ridge Road and the 91 Freeway. The California Highway Patrol have closed the road down the 241 Eastern Transportation Corridor Toll Road, from the 91 Freeway South to the Santiago Canyon Road. It was not possible to provide ample air supplied due to rough weather conditions. Helicopters dropping water and other resources could not stay in the area and arrived early Wednesday morning.

The firefighters were having a tough time battling the fire that was being aggravated by the wind that blew at an approximate 20 miles per hour that at times reached up to 35 miles. Still, they made pretty good progress in bringing it under control. They were attempting to keep the fire contained along the eastern side of the State Route 241, considering that there are lesser residences and buildings in general in that area. A total of about 120 firefighters had been sent in from Orange County, Orange state and Anaheim Hills. The authorities have also sent in a request for a water dropping helicopter to Los Angeles.
