ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) — A second alarm fire at MTS Medication Technologies in St. Petersburg, Florida was extinguished within an hour on Wednesday, fire officials said. There were no reports of injuries.

Around 10.45 p.m. local time, St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue units responded to 2003 Gandy Blvd North for a report of a structure fire at the location, which is a 128,000 sq. ft. warehouse used to manufacture packaging materials for medications. Deputy Fire Marshal Joel Granata said that, due to the size of the building, a second alarm was called.

“Firefighters found a large printing machine on fire,” Granata said. “The building’s sprinkler system held the fire in check while firefighters used hand lines to extinguish the blaze.”

Within an hour, shortly before 11.45 p.m. local time, the fire was out. Granata said fire crews remain on scene and are doing salvage and overhaul operations.
