Fire at Macy’s flagship store ‘under control’

NEW YORK CITY (BNO NEWS) — A fire broke out at Macy’s Inc. (NYSE:M) flagship store in New York City on Wednesday, causing the building to be evacuated.
The fire started around 11.43 a.m. EST in an electrical vault in the sub-basement of the famous store, according to a spokesman for the New York City Fire Department. He said the all-hands fire was contained to the basement, but authorities decided to evacuate the rest of the building nevertheless.
Just before 1 p.m. EST, about an hour after the fire broke out, the blaze was brought under control.
There have been no reports of injuries.
