London, Aug 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Some files of the Winston Churchill era show that the UK government officials used to take the threat of the UFO’s in a very serious manner around six decades ago, so much so that they even used to hold special meetings to discuss the issue.

And the most startling bit about the files from the 1950’s is that Winston Churchill had even ordered his governmental officials to keep an apparent UFO sighting to be kept totally under wraps. He wanted that the UFO sighting should not be disclosed to the public, so that there wouldn’t be any ‘mass hysteria’ after the UFO was spotted.

In fact the old papers also reveal that there used to be weekly reports on the topic, and the intelligence experts used to huddle together at meetings to discuss the issue. The six-decade-old files also divulged that a record number of UFO’s were sighted in 1996, due to the immense popularity of ‘The X- Files’. According to reports at least one UFO used to be sighted per week.

And in an apparent attempt to keep the public in the dark about the UFO sightings, most of the files and records from that era have been destroyed.

“The interesting thing is that most of the UFO files from that period have been destroyed. The reason apparently was because Churchill believed it would cause mass panic and it would shatter people’s religious views,” according to Nick Pope, who was responsible for investigating UFO sightings for the MoD.
