July 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Farmers who have to face a hell of a time fending off wild animals now have a solution in hand. According to the United Nations, the farmers who have to encounter extensive losses after their farms suffer destruction due to the wild animals can now avert the problem by using pepper sprays and seeking the help of guarding monkeys.
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) released a statement in its official website in which it prescribed a ‘toolkit’ that could come handy to the farmers especially in Africa to ward off the wild animals. In the statement, the organization has noted that with the 75 million growth in human population every year, animals and humans have to co-exist with each other which results in the increased amount of conflicts between the two. In order to stop the menace that is created by the wild elephants which destroy crops, infuriated farmers often kill the animals.
However, the United Nations has suggested that instead of taking the lives of the animals, a better option would be to use chilli pepper to deter the animals from invading the farmlands while also noting that Kenyan donkeys are capable of protecting the farmlands against animals bigger than their size. Another option that has been suggested is keeping a snake inside a food item which would prevent baboons from stealing foods from them.
The clash between animals and humans has become a growing menace in the rural parts of many nations especially in countries of Africa. The conflict poses a major threat as with the escalating rate of human population, the need of land for crop and livestock has become all the more important.
