Fifth grader dons face paint for bin Laden death Dauphin, May 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A fifth grade student in Pennsylvania caused controversy when he went to school with face paint that clearly referenced the death of Osama Bin Laden. The school authorities say the painting had the tendency to be disruptive so the boy’s mother voluntarily removed the child from school on that day.

Bin Laden was killed in a raid on Monday. The child’s painting showed the flag of the United States with the date that Bin Laden was killed and the letters U-S-A boldly at another side. The boy took the painting to the Middle Paxton Elementary School near Harrisburg. The incident happened on Monday shortly after the news that Bin Laden has been killed.

The school authorities say the artwork violated the rules of the school. According to the administrators of the school, the students are required under the school’s rules to wear things that are “conducive to a scholastic atmosphere.”

There has been mixed reactions to the school’s stand. Some critics say the child was just showing patriotism. Others however say the student went overboard with his action.

The US administration is considering whether to release images of the body of Bin Laden after he was killed. Some senior White House officials say the images are too “gruesome” so careful deliberation is being done to decide whether they should be released or not.
