Italy, Sep 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After Toyota, Honda and GM, Ferrari has also jumped onto the recall bandwagon! The iconic brand is recalling more than 300 of its 458 Italia vehicles made and sold in 2010 in North America. The news has been confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which has said that the cause is insufficient heat shield protection used in these cars. The cars can go up in flames when the adhesive used in cars get overheated. The company has said that the owners who own the vehicles covered by this recall will soon be informed.
The Ferrari dealers will replace the faulty heat shields and bounding adhesives and install new ones without any charge. Company has got 5 reports of the model catching fire and it possibly did not want to take risk. The company says that anyone who bought the model prior to July this year should take his car to the dealer to get a replacement. The Italia luxury models come at a cost of 170,000. Some of the buyers of the model include DJ Chris Evans and rock star Eric Clapton. So far the models bursting in flame have been reported in places like Paris, China, and California. There have been no such incidents in the UK.
The recalled 458 Italia Ferrari models reach a peak speed of 202mph with the powerful 4.5-litre engine. The company says that defect can be rectified by the dealers within a working day. The customers who have lost their vehicles in fire caused by the fault would get a replacement vehicle and they would not have to pay extra for that.
