Feb 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The snowstorm that has made a mess of the public life in Washington continues to affect government work and civic life on Wednesday. The Federal government offices will remain closed on Wednesday just like they were shut in Tuesday and Monday. The areas that are reeling under the onslaught of the blizzard include Philadelphia, New York and Washington. As a matter of fact, the government offices in Washington have remained largely closed from Friday. The snowfall accompanied by the storm is making things worse for the residents and the federal government as well.
However, the essential services have not been withdrawn by the federal government. The tourists who are stranded in Washington and adjacent areas due to the snowstorm are not amused by this widespread closure. They do not have much of a choice as the places of tourist interest also remain closed. As a consequence of the closure, a number of meetings and hearings have been rescheduled or postponed. Among them is the hearing on the Toyota recall issue. The schools have been forced to suspend their classes and the students are spending the extended holidays at home.
The roads have turned dangerous after the massive snowfall and a report of three people dying in Michigan in road accidents have appeared. Chicago was also affected by the severe storm and a lot of flights had to be canceled there. Operations at Newark Liberty Airport also got severely affected by the inclement weather. The weather just does not show any sign of improvement and the weathermen predict more snowfall for Washington.
