Federal Government Offices Declare Closure On Thursday

weather-copyWashington D.C., Feb 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Winter weather and snowfall has highly affected the everyday life of people in Washington D.C. and the latest update states that the road conditions in Washington D.C. has not yet improved. Therefore, federal agencies have decided to declare closure on Thursday. As several offices will remain closed today, people should check the information of closures before leaving their house.

The reports that federal offices in Washington D.C. will remain closed for four consecutive days indicate that the region has been highly affected by snowfall. According to the reports, this is for the first time that the federal offices are remaining closed for four days straight. Previous records state that federal offices had declared a maximum of three days closure in the year 1996. Those who are employed in the federal agencies can check the website of U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to know the detailed information of the closure.

Reports indicate that the federal office closure notice that has been updated on the website is only applicable for the non-emergency staffs. People working as non-pay employees in different categories or staffs who are appointed on leave without pay, are also ineligible for these leaves. It has been reported that the notice of federal office closure is applicable only for Thursday, 11.02.10. If road conditions become favorable then people will be required to resume their regular activities from tomorrow. Reports indicate that emergency workers have been employed to clear the roads so that the state can function normally. Emergency workers are also requested to report on time so that work can be done faster.
