July 1st, 2010 - 11:08 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, July 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Internet movie pirates had a bad day when the federal agents conducted a crackdown on them. The federal agents were in a very investigative mood and they also seized seven famous websites, which allow their users to watch the latest blockbusters. The users can watch the latest movies on these sites, by downloading them.
One of the seized websites was Movies-Links.TV as it was offering its users the opportunity to watch the latest movies such as The Karate Kid, Prince of Persia, Sex and the City 2 and even Splice. The officials also added that this website is very high on the popularity scale of the illegal Internet movie websites. It is said to have around 3.3 million visitors in a month.
The Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara is very strict about the Internet piracy business and he said that, “If your business model is movie piracy, your story will not have a happy ending.”
He also added that because of the Internet piracy, the Hollywood industry suffers huge losses to the tune of billions of dollars. The other websites that faced the brunt of the federal agents included TVShack.net, Now-Movies.com, ThePirateCity.org, Filespump.com, Planetmoviez.com and ZML.com.
