Washington DC, May 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The FBI has commenced investigation into suspicious letters which were sent to some D.C. schools last week. About 39 letters were sent to several schools in D.C. School officials closed down some of the schools when they realized that the envelopes contain unidentified white powder with terror writings.

Samples of the substance have been sent to the lab to determine the content. Initial investigation by the FBI suggests that the letters have the marks of al Qaeda. After the preliminary study of the substance, it will be sent to Dallas where FBI forensic experts are working to unravel the mystery.

The FBI has brought on board the US Postal Services in trying to unravel where the packages might have been sent from. The investigators are trying to link the current cases to previous incidents. Letters with similar contents were sent to D.C. schools in October and investigators are trying to connect those incidents with the current one.

The FBI says they are not treating the incidents as pranks. All the letters have the words “AL AQEDA-FBI” typed on white seals which have been coated with white powder.

Al Qaeda was formed by Osama bin Laden. With the death of bin Laden last week, the United States have been on guard for possible revenge attacks.
