Bergholz, Ohio, Nov 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The FBI on Wednesday rounded up about 7 people for forcefully cutting the beards and hair of several Amish men and women. The FBI says the arrested men are former Amish members who have broken from the main group.

The 7 are being held on suspicion of hate attack on the Amish group. The arrested men will be arraigned before the court on Wednesday. The men were arrested at the compound which is located at eastern Ohio. The leader of the breakaway group along with three of his sons and three other members were arrested in the morning.

WOIO reports that the leader of the Amish group Bishop Sam Mullet orders members he considers not faithful enough to be saved. The act is considered very offensive among the Amish community who believe that GOD expects men to keep their beard once they get married. The women are also forbidden from cutting their hair from the same time.

Police say the Amish group keeps from reporting fellow Amis members to law enforcement agencies.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Cleveland told reporters that they will bring charges against the men later. The men are expected to be taken to court later on Wednesday.
