The incident happened when Ian Rook was moving that particular bull from one group to another. According to William White, southeast regional director for the National Farmers Union (NFU), Ian Rook was an “all-round good bloke”. According to reports by pub landlord Geoff Wilson Ian had been “tossed up in the air” by the charging bull and he suffered so many injuries that he died from them.

He also added that, “The police blocked off the road when I came back last night. The police officer told me the bull was still on the loose. Later I was told he had been stroking the bull and it tossed him up in the air.”
