Nov.11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Yesterday, a hostage alarm from the Governor’s Office building in Jefferson City created panic among the people who worked in the same building. Though the Governor does not work in this office, there are other offices with more than one hundred employees. It was stated that someone called the building security department by using the intercom and uttered the word ‘hostage’. Police officials reached the place immediately after the getting the information and started the evacuation process cautiously. They said that they could not find any hostage in the office building and the alarm was false.
On Tuesday afternoon, the authorities held a press conference and informed media that they had searched all parts of the building thoroughly and could not find any problem in the offices. Police Capt. Mike Smith told the media that no one was injured or arrested in this incident. One hundred and fifty five employees, who worked at the offices in this building, were evacuated safely by the authorities.
Police had covered the building from all sides and asked everyone to lock themselves in their offices. Emergency vehicles were sent to the place for rescuing all the employees. However, the police could not find any ‘hostage’ and are yet to trace the source from which the news had come. One of the employees, who was present in the building at that time said that someone from the fifth floor called up and reported about the hostage. Public Service Commission’s office is located in the fifth floor of the building and investigations would provide more details about the incident.
