Explosion In Kleen Energy Systems, Middletown Claims Lives

Middletown, Feb 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Blast in one of the gas-fired power plants of Middletown, Connecticut- Kleen Energy Systems LLC, on Sunday had created a panic among the employees, who were working in the power plant at that time. As per the last updates available, two people had died and twelve were injured in the explosion. However, some of the major media outlets have reported that at least five people had died in this accident. The officials have not yet mentioned the exact number of casualties and sources stated that fatalities can increase, after the contractors provide the details of employees that they had appointed to work in the plant on Sunday.
The officials of the plant are also yet to confirm the number of employees who were working inside the plant when the blast occurred. Though there is no official confirmation, some sources reported that around two hundred employees were present inside the plant when it exploded all of a sudden. The explosion has caused a great damage to the power plant, which was expected to become functional by this summer. It has been reported that workers of the fire department as well as rescue teams with dogs were sent to the spot of accident to search for the people who were trapped in the rubble.
As per the reports, leakage of natural gas while conducting some tests led to the accident in the power plant and claimed the lives of several workers. People in the neighborhood, who had experienced the effects of the blast stated that they had felt some quake like tremors when the explosion occurred.
