Evangelical Explorers Discover Noah’s Ark On Mt. Ararat
April 28th, 2010 - 1:03 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonApr 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) What is believed to be the remains of the Biblical and historical ‘Noah’s Ark’ has been discovered by a group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers 13,000 feet high on top of Turkey’s Mt Ararat. This is perhaps the most exciting find of the century. Yeung Wing-Cheung from a team called “Noah’s Ark Team International” said that although they cannot yet say with 100% certainty that it is indeed the famous Ark, that they are 99.9% certain of their finding. He said the structure contained several compartments, some with wooden beams, that they believe were used to house animals. Local Turkish officials will ask the central government, which is in Ankara, to apply for a UNESCO World Heritage status which would protect the site while a major archaeological dig takes place.
Carbon dating which was performed on the relic shows that it is 4800 years old, which is around the time which Noah’s Ark was afloat and landed atop Mt Ararat. The book of Genesis, chapters 6 through 9 tells how God sent a flood to destroy the earth because of man’s wickedness. God tells Noah, the righteous man of his generation, to build a large boat, and save his family, and two of every kind of animal. God then gave Noah instructions of how to build the boat, and sent the animals to him once the boat was completed.
While Noah built the Ark, he tried to tell his neighbors what was going to happen, but everyone laughed at him, and no one heeded his warning. As the waters began, the people cried out for Noah to let them in, banging on the door, but Noah could not open it, God had sealed it shut. The flood then came, just as God said that it would, and the earth was destroyed by water. When it was safe for Noah and his family to leave the ark, God placed the first rainbow in the sky, to promise to mankind that he would never again destroy the earth by flood. According to Genesis in the Bible, the Ark came to rest in the region of Mt Ararat, as stated in Wikipedia. Almost every religion known to man has some variation of the story of Noah’s Ark, which are also listed in Wikipedia.
