Eugene, OR police arrest teen for drunk driving after causing a head-on collision

EUGENE, OREGON (BNO NEWS) – Oregon State Police arrested a Eugene, Oregon resident on Sunday for drunk driving after a two-vehicle crash that resulted in serious injuries to a woman.

Jason A. Curtis, 19, was driving a 1995 Acura Integra when it crossed the highway centerline and crashed head-on with an eastbound 1996 Nissan two door.

The Nissan’s driver, Candace Lee Chitty, 63, was seriously injured. She was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.

Curtis was transported by ambulance with minor injuries to the same hospital, and after being treated and released, Oregon State Police arrested Curtis and lodged him in the Lane County Jail for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Assault in the 3rd Degree.

One lane was closed for about an hour. Oregon State Police were assisted by local emergency responding agencies.
