Erik Prince Plans To Move To UAE
June 17th, 2010 - 7:51 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkJune 17, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The mercenary firm ‘Blackwater’ and its owner, Erik Prince, is in news once again. The top level executives of the notorious Blackwater firm are currently facing Federal charges. The owner, however, has plans of moving out of the country into a place which does not have an extradition treaty with the United States of America.
Prince, apparently is trying to escape justice by bolting to the overtly Islamic country of United Arab Emirates known as UAE in short. April, this year, saw the indictment by a Grand Jury of five of Erik’s top men. They have been charged with weapons, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
The owner of Blackwater, startled people by announcing the sale of his company last week. Although Erik Prince has not himself been charged with any of the charges, rumors are rife that he would be moving to a distant country. Mark Corallo, the spokesperson as well as the advisor of Prince and his company simply denied to confirm the rumors. He said that his client was a private individual and he cannot make public the plans that his client has.
The reports of Erik Prince moving away after quickly selling his company had surfaced in the Nation who cross checked it with three separate sources. The Nation also reported that none of his top men have spilt the beans on Prince so far but Erik might find himself in legal trouble soon, in the future. The arrangements for moving to a country far away are now being seen as a means of evading punitive measures by Prince. Legal expert Scott Horton, reiterates the fact that it would be difficult to begin a case against Erik Prince if he lives overseas, especially in a country which does not have to honor any request for extradition.
