California, Dec 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The survivor of so many mishaps and even cancer died a very ironical death. A regular on the Discovery Channel TV show ‘Mythbusters’ Erik Gates had a fatal tragic accident. Erik Gates was walking on the roof of the Xirrus Inc Building at 2101 Corporate Center Drive in Newburry Park with his friend when the tragic accident happened. It was a 30-foot fall, in which Erik Gates suffered chest injuries and later died due to them. He was only 47 years old.

Mythbusters is a Discovery Channel show and Erik Gates made regular appearances on the show where he also founded a website dedicated to his rocketry work. Erik Gates was able to use his expertise in rocketry to appear as an expertise guest on four Mythbuster episodes. It is being reported that Erik Gates was walking across the roof of a building which he and a colleague were working on, when he suddenly fell and dropped 30 feet to his tragic death.

Erik Gates owned Gateco Electric and was supervising at a job-site when suddenly he fell through a skylight and landed 30 feet down, sustaining blunt force chest injuries in the process. “He was a good guy,” said Steve DeGennaro, Xirrus Inc.’s co-founder and CFO, on Monday. “He survived cancer, he jumps with parachutes, and he base jumps. He’s an active guy who was used to taking precautions. This was a freak accident that shouldn’t have happened.” The freak accident is also ironical, in the sense that Erik survived other major mishaps in life, but fell prey to a freak accident.
