Dec 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Indiana officials said that they would not file any charges against the University of Notre Dame football player, who was alleged involved in the sexual assault case on Lizzy Seeberg, the 19-year-old freshman of Saint Mary’s College. St. Joseph County prosecutor Michael Dvorak, confirmed that they are not going to take up any charges against the player on Thursday. However, the U.S. Department of Education have said that they would conduct some preliminary inquiries regarding the case, but have not launched any formal investigation as yet.
Elizabeth ‘Lizzy Seeberg’ stated in her computer diary before her death on September 10, 2010, that she was assaulted on August 31 by the player. She was with one of the player’s friend and his girlfriend. She said, after sometime, the couple left the room, and she was left alone with the player. He took the advantage of the situation and assaulted her, to leave her weeping and frozen. She filed reports against the player right the next day. After a few days, she got a text from yet another player of the same team, that asked her more about the matter. She refused to disclose anything to him. He messaged the second time, warning her not to “mess up” with the University of Notre Dame football team. She committed suicide eight days after she received the message. Michael Dvorak, who was in charge of the matter stated that all the statements on the part of Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Seeberg, has been “found inadmissible in a court of law”, without any substantial proof against the player.
The prosecutors or the authorities who are dealing with the matter refused to disclose the name of the player, as he has not been rendered as a criminal so far, and no cases of assault has been charged against him. Lizzy Seeberg, the victim, apparently received no support from the football team or the University.
