edwin1Louisville, Ky., Oct. 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After having spent as many as 9 years in the prison, a Louisville man has been cleared of all the charges that had been pending against him. According to the reports of various news sources, it has come to light that the judge has rejected Edwin Chandler’s conviction on Tuesday afternoon. It appears that hearing the verdict on the case, Chandler had broken down almost completely and held on to the hands of his attorney, Marguerite Thomas for support.

However, before being relieved of all charges, Chandler has already spent a number of years in prison without any fault of his. Which is what makes the incident so tragic, even when it bears such happy tidings. This instance however has highlighted the fact that justice finally prevails against all the odds. Chandler had been put behind the bars for a homicide that had taken place almost 16 years ago. He had been wrongfully indicted with the charges of the slaying of a store clerk, years back in 1993. What shortcomings could have led the justice system to oversee his evident innocence for so long, is a certain matter of debate.

It was the account of two witnesses and a finger print that had been left on a beer bottle at the scene of the crime, that helped clear the name of Chandler, according to Chandler’s attorney Thomas. It has been reported that another suspect has been named and indicted in the 1993 killing. After Chandler was cleared of all the charges, Jefferson County Commonwealth’s attorney, David Stengel had reportedly chosen to offer his apologies to Chandler for his sufferings.
