shortest man Sep 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Although the Columbian Edward Nino Hernandez has been named the “World’s Shortest Man” by the Guiness Book of World Records, he is not expected to hold on to the title for very long. Hernandez is 70.21 centimeters, or 2 feet, 3.46 inches tall and stands even shorter than the previous record holder, Pingping, who died earlier in the year. A seventeen year old is expected to take the spot when he turns eighteen next month, however.

According to the Editor in Chief of Guiness, Craig Glenday, Hernandezis actually a few centimeters shorter than Pingping was. “Not only is he a new shortest man, he’s even shorter than the previous record holder,” said Glenday.

Hernandez is not expected to remain the world’s shortest man for long, however. Even though he will be recognized as such in the 2011 Guiness Book of World Records, his title will actually be taken away in October, as Khagendra Thapa Magar, a teen from Nepal who is only 2 feet 1.8 inches, or 56 centimeters tall will be turning 18 on October 14.

Hernandez’s mother has five living children, and says that he has not grown since he was five years old. He would love to meet Jackie Chan, Sylvester Stallone and former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. Hernandez loves salsa dancing, and would love to own a Mercedes and see the world.
