Earthquake survivor found in Port-au-Prince after eleven days, possibly more

haiti-death-toll PORT-AU-PRINCE (BNO NEWS) — A Greek search and rescue team in Port-au-Prince on Saturday found at least one survivor under the rubble of a collapsed building, eleven days after a devastating 7.0-magnitude earthquake killed more than 120,000 people there.

The survivor was found by a Helenik search and rescue team at 130 Rue Du Centre, about five minutes from the port. The survivor has not been freed yet, but rescue workers have been able to communicate.

The Los Angeles County Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) is also on site, and the Fairfax County USAR is en-route to assist.

The U.S. Haiti Joint Information Center said possibly more survivors are trapped at the location.
